Applitools, the AI-focused automated testing firm based in California and Israel, has acquired Preflight, a company that specialises in low-code automated testing. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but are reported to have been in the region of $10m-$15m.
Preflight’s low-code testing solution is designed to enable anyone, regardless of their technical capabilities, to create automated tests quickly and at a low cost. “Preflight’s user-friendly web recorder captures every element accurately and includes a data generator to simulate even the most complex test cases,” said Applitools in its online company blog. “This is a game-changer for manual testers, QA engineers, and product teams as it empowers them to automate test scenarios regardless of their skillset, effectively multiplying their QA abilities instantly.”
Applitools’ Visual AI – the platform for which the company is best known – is designed to mimic the human eye and brain to avoid undetected functional and visual bugs, minimising false alerts that waste developers’ and testers’ time.
Applitools was acquired by private equity firm Thoma Bravo for $250m in March 2021.
