Broadcom completes VMware acquisition

Broadcom, the California-headquartered technology giant, has announced the completion of its long-awaited acquisition of California-based cloud computing specialist, VMware. The deal was completed after receiving regulatory approval from China, the final remaining regulatory hurdle after receiving approval from Australia, Brazil, Canada, the EU, Israel, Japan, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan and the UK. 

The acquisition, valued at $69 billion, will see Broadcom invest heavily in VMware’s cloud offerings whilst integrating their offerings into Broadcom products.

Commenting on the announcement Broadcom President and CEO, Hock Tan [pictured], said: “We are excited to welcome VMware to Broadcom and bring together our engineering-first, innovation-centric teams”, “With a shared focus on customer success, together we are well positioned to enable global enterprises to embrace private and hybrid cloud environments, making them more secure and resilient.”
