Software solution firm EQS Group confirmed to QA Financial it has entered into exclusive talks for the acquisition of Data Legal Drive (DLD), a provider of compliance software testing solutions, based in France.

If successful, the acquisition would mean a significant strengthening of EQS Group’s position in the European compliance SaaS market, and boost the company’s test offering, particularly in the area of privacy software application testing.

Munich-based Achim Weick, founder and CEO of EQS Group, who is leading the talks, said that “the acquisition of Data Legal Drive will be a significant milestone for EQS and will bolster our expertise.

Singling out the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), he said “since the regulation came into force in 2018, the cumulative fines exceeded €4 billion, highlighting the ongoing demand for GDPR support and testing.”

Weick said that, if the talks succeed, a merged entity would be “in an ideal position to expand our services and address compliance needs even more comprehensively.”

Founded in in 2018, when GDPR became European law, Data Legal Drive has swiftly emerged as a leading independent compliance software provider in France. It offers a host of testing solutions which help firms to identify bugs and flaws in any privacy-focused application, tool or feature.

Weick declined to provide any further details about the talks or the future strategy for any merged entity.
