Synopsys survey reveals top security challenges for IT professionals in Asia

Security and quality assurance should be built into software development lifecycles, Synopsys Managing Director says following results of a recent survey

Results from a survey conducted by Synopsys, the California-based software company, at the GovernmentWare conference held in Singapore in September have revealed that 54% of the participants believe customer-facing web and mobile applications are the top security challenge for development teams in Asia.

244 IT professionals took part in the survey, including C-level IT professionals, managers and other executives. Other challenges that were highlighted include IoT systems, desktop applications and internal-facing web applications.

Geok Cheng Tan, Managing Director of Asia Pacific for the Synopsys Software Integrity Group has said that to effectively address cyber threats, software companies need to move beyond reactive measures by implementing software security initiatives that embrace the fundamentals of software integrity and proactively build security and quality into their software development lifecycle (SDLC).
