Software testing provider Horizon3.ai has developed and launched a cloud version of its relatively popular autonomous penetration testing solution NodeZero.

The San Francisco-based firm explained in an email that the new tool should help banks, financial services firms and other clients to identify and resolve complex exploitable vulnerabilities and hidden attack paths in their cloud environments.

The company stressed that “identity is a cornerstone of cloud security” so it claims its new cloud-focused solution “yields deeper insights into exploitable risks in AWS and Azure environments than other penetration testing solutions.”

Horizon3.ai, a fast-growing player in the pentesting space, runs NodeZero, generally considered one of the most comprehensive autonomous penetration testing solutions out there at the moment.

The platform has seen a decent uptake among a range of banks, finance firms and other finserv players in recent years, primarily across North America.

Cloud focus

With organizations rapidly expanding their digital presence in the cloud, managing security and addressing the unique requirements of each cloud environment becomes increasingly complex for many financial services players.

“Concurrently, attackers are intensifying their efforts with more frequent and sophisticated attacks,” stated SF Bay-based Snehal Antani, the CEO and co-founder of Horizon3.ai.

He pointed out that “many financial services organisations struggle to identify and remediate vulnerabilities in both cloud environments and on-premises systems.”

What makes his platform stand out, Antani stressed, is that “the solution can pivot to on-premises networks, to emulate the true behaviour of an attacker.”

In summary, “this allows organizations to prioritize the remediation of complex attack paths that could be exploited by attackers, significantly reducing cyber risk,” he explained.

Moreover, Antani said organisations can schedule and launch on-premises and cloud-focused penetration tests at their convenience and he encourages financial services firms to compare his solution against any other cyber risk assessment approach they currently use.
