When the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) came into force, many financial institutions viewed it primarily as a compliance exercise. Two years on, the conversation has changed dramatically.

Banks, insurers and asset managers are increasingly discovering that the disciplines required by DORA are also improving software quality, strengthening governance and providing executives with far greater visibility into technology risk.

That shift is likely to accelerate as regulators around the world adopt similar expectations around operational resilience, software assurance and demonstrable testing.

Rather than simply asking whether applications have been tested, supervisors increasingly want evidence that critical systems are continuously monitored, risks are measured and controls remain effective over time.

Against this backdrop, QA Financial Forum London 2026 welcomes Sheeran Dambri, QA Advisory Lead at Pictet Asset Management, for a practical session exploring how software risk management is evolving beyond initial DORA compliance and what organisations should be doing now to prepare for the next phase.

Dambri’s session, Get ready for DORA 2.0! The evolution of software risk management at Pictet, examines how the implementation of DORA standards has become much more than a regulatory obligation.

At Pictet Asset Management, the programme has also helped standardise software quality practices and establish a stronger baseline for measuring technology risk across critical applications.

Rather than treating regulation as an isolated compliance function, Dambri will explain how his team has integrated quality engineering directly into software governance.

The session will detail how specific KPIs were developed for critical applications and how those metrics, together with structured test cases, have supported compliance reporting to EU supervisors while also providing greater operational insight for the business.

Regulatory pressure

The presentation comes at a particularly timely moment. Around the world, regulators are increasingly focusing on evidence rather than process alone.

Whether under DORA, the EU AI Act, the UK’s evolving AI assurance framework, or resilience initiatives from authorities in Asia and North America, firms are being expected not simply to conduct testing, but to demonstrate that critical systems remain resilient, controlled and continuously monitored.

That evolution places quality engineering much closer to enterprise risk management than ever before. Testing is becoming a source of regulatory evidence, while software quality metrics are increasingly informing governance decisions at board level.

Dambri brings a perspective that combines technical delivery with strategic advisory experience.

With more than 15 years spanning software engineering, quality leadership and business strategy, he has deliberately evolved from Software Engineer in Test to Technology Transformation & Quality Advisor, guided by the belief that quality should be viewed as a business enabler rather than simply a technical function.

As QA Advisory Lead at Pictet Asset Management, he works across the technology organisation as an internal consultant, connecting quality engineering with regulatory compliance and broader strategic decision-making.

His experience covers FinTech, consumer technology and more than seven years in the asset management sector across Switzerland and international markets.

Attendees can expect practical insight into how one major financial institution has translated regulatory requirements into measurable operational improvements.

Beyond implementation lessons, the session will also explore Dambri’s view of how global supervision of software risk is likely to develop in the coming years, offering valuable perspective for organisations that recognise today’s resilience requirements are unlikely to represent the final destination.

For quality leaders, engineering managers, technology executives and governance specialists, the session provides an opportunity to understand how DORA can become more than a compliance framework.

Instead, it offers a blueprint for building consistent software quality, meaningful operational metrics and stronger resilience across increasingly complex technology estates.

As financial services continue to accelerate software delivery while facing ever-greater regulatory scrutiny, organisations that successfully combine quality engineering, measurable KPIs and evidence-based governance are likely to be best positioned for whatever “DORA 2.0” ultimately looks like.

Get ready for DORA 2.0! The evolution of software risk management at Pictet takes place on Wednesday 16 September from 09:15–09:45 BST in Track 1 at the QA Financial Forum London 2026, held at the America Square Conference Centre, London. The session is presented by Sheeran Dambri, QA Advisory Lead at Pictet Asset Management. More information can be found here.
