Software company Digital.ai informed QA Financial it has developed and launched a new automated software testing solution that is powered by AI and should make it easier to develop and deliver software systems, the US-based firm said.
The launch comes as Digital.ai CEO Derek Holt ‘the race is on’ for firms to roll out AI-powered testing solutions as software testing applications are becoming more complex and security concerns are mounting rapidly.
Specially designed for complex systems and DevSecOps environments, Erawan, as the solution is called, is a programming testing solution that can help develop and govern different software infrastructures.
“As financial services funnel more investment into AI-augmented software development tools, this platform ensures the likelihood that real productivity gains will materialise and result in measurable benefits to the business,” claimed Holt.
The rapidly growing startup has been making somewhat of a name for itself within the financial services space in recent years.
The Raleigh, North Carolina-based firm publicly states it currently serves eight of the top 10 U.S. and European banks, as well as four of the five largest insurance companies across the U.S.
It currently has around 1,000 employees, serving about 900 clients worldwide, providing services that range from application lifecycle management to application release automation and continuous testing to app security and threat analytics.
‘Race is on’
Holt stressed that “the race is on” for businesses to leverage copilots for a competitive edge, at the same time, software testing applications are becoming more complex, security concerns are mounting, and the bar for continuous innovation keeps rising, placing constant pressure on development teams.”
He added that “Erawan is designed to optimise the benefits of AI that companies are building into their processes by enabling customers to further automate the rest of software delivery to keep pace with developers’ front-end AI productivity gains.”

Moreover, with the introduction of AI-assisted copilots, developers have accelerated their output. However, automating end-to-end software delivery and measuring productivity gains struggle to keep pace, Holt continued.
Therefore, Erawan’s workflow capabilities help govern AI-assisted development to test support the uptick in speed, while analysing risk exposure through insights, he shared.
Calling the platform “a data foundation”, he said it “spans our portfolio and “creates a single point of truth and access data, dashboards, and our AI-based predictive intelligence capabilities more easily and contextually.”
Lack of testing
When asked to scrutnise Digital.ai’s new solution, Katie Norton, a research manager, DevSecOps and software supply chain security at IDC said that recent research does show that organisations protecting mobile apps often lack a solution to test them efficiently and effectively.

“Having to run tests on multiple versions of an app slows the release orchestration process and increases the risk of delivering the wrong version of an app into the wild,” Norton noted.
“The integration of continuous testing and security available on this new platform can help customers solve this problem and deliver secure, compliant, and protected apps at scale,” she agreed.
