Broadcom, the California-headquartered technology giant, has received approval from the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) for its acquisition of California-based cloud computing specialist, VMware. This green light follows recent EU approval of the acquisition, as previously reported here.
Commenting on the approval, the CMA said: “After examining the evidence gathered from Broadcom, VMware and other interested parties, an independent CMA panel has provisionally found the deal would not substantially reduce competition”.
Broadcom still needs to win the approval of Chinese and US regulators for the acquisition.
