BNP Paribas Deepens Cloud Partnership with IBM

BNP Paribas has extended its cloud partnership with IBM for another eight years. The French bank is looking to transition more of its technology to the cloud to support its ongoing digital transformation. The latest deal will see BNP integrate with the IBM Cloud hosted in data centres dedicated to the bank, under the jointly founded BNP Partners for Innovation. The contract will also help BNP strengthen its hybrid cloud “as a service” capabilities, using IBM solutions offered via its public cloud to support the development of new test and applications environments. According to IBM, the new cloud approach will enable BNP Paribas to become more agile, ensure the performance of its IT systems and improve security. It is also designed to improve the time to market for new digital applications and services. The financial firm also hopes that IBM Hybrid Cloud solutions will help it increase services capabilities through the use of multiple environments, such as dedicated public and private clouds, ensuring integration between the different environments. However, BNP has stated that it will not use the public cloud for either customer data or production environments with sensitive information.
