Software intelligence is the practice of analysing code quality an dependencies, which can enable firms to predict where operational risks may arise from change requests.

On 7th November 2019, the software intelligence and code analysis tooling provider CAST Software announced updates to its Application Intelligence Platform (AIP), aimed at improving software risk management.

Updates included in version 1.12 of the AIP dashboard offer software leaders:

  • traceability for code that violates specified business rules at a transactional level;
  • visibility into software objects impacted by a particular transaction violation;
  • ability to examine objects exhibiting high complexity, as potential candidates for refactoring;
  • integration of software quality data into reporting for NIST, STIG and PCI-DSS compliance.

“We understand [that] dashboards are critical for [managing] software intelligence,” states Arkapravo Chakraborty, Senior Product Manager for CAST AIP. “We hope [our] recently announced release of [the] CAST AIP 1.12 dashboard will help our customers get more visibility into their complex systems.”

Code analysis – examining the health of complex systems using software intelligence – is a burgeoning area for financial firms. Vendors such as SonarSource, Sonatype and Undo are also often referenced in this space.
