Cigniti, a test service provider publically listed on the Mumbai and National Stock exchanges with headquarters in Hyderabad, has released BlueSwan, which it describes as “a next-generation testing platform”. BlueSwan is not sold independently, but is offered as part of Cigniti’s testing service offering. It is the next step in the development of the Cigniti’s testing platforms, which include its Smart Test Platform, and its Smart Test Tools. “Though it has just recently been released, it is not something we created today. BlueSwan is the result of years of customer experience and quality engineering expertise,” said Sairam Vedam, vice president and global head of marketing at Cigniti. The technology underpinning BlueSwan is aimed at accelerating the digital transformation, says Cigniti. For financial services that especially means banks are increasingly pushing services that used to be provided in branches onto mobile and online apps, the firm says. Vedam said that the need to assure that these transactions are executed correctly, across platforms, and integrating seamlessly with third-parties, is putting increasing pressure on quality assurance departments. “Banks need to move to achieve a release speed that customers have come to expect, and testing is a big part of that. Our Veritas function leverages machine learning to provide predictive analytics, so that members across an organisation can gain real-time insights,” said Vedam. “A CIO might want to have a look at how a budget is being impacted, or when the expected release time of a new feature is, while a quality engineer can see what sections of code are predicted to be most vulnerable.” Vedam added that the Velocita tool provides pre-packaged financial services specific testing accelerators built for the industry. The Cesta function lets BlueSwan users migrate their test-scripts between different platforms. The vice president of marketing explained that banks which want to use open-source tools like Selenium, but have invested heavily into HP Unified Functional Testing, can do so without having to waste the money and man-hours it put into creating test cases. Beyond Selenium, Cesta also supports migration from HP UFT to Lean and TestComplete. Vedam said that Cigniti will enhance BlueSwan in the future, putting special emphasis on the IoT and security testing. The firm will also continue to expand its industry-specific accelerators. Cigniti’s customers in the financial services include Atom Bank, Synovus, Heartland Payment systems, DBS, Bank of America, Alfa and Max Life Insurance.
