Denmark Hires “Ethical Hackers” to Test Financial Sector Cyber Resilience

cybercrime-1569322235

Denmark’s central bank, in partnership with financial firms, is planning to enlist the services of “ethical hackers” to test the cyber resilience of the country’s financial sector. The hackers will conduct “realistic” attacks on the most important banks and key parts of the Danish financial infrastructure, said Danmarks Nationalbank. The country’s central bank, which monitors financial stability, is leading this project after concluding that cyberattacks constitute a significant risk. The testing program, called TIBER-DK, was developed by the European Central Bank, and Denmark will join Belgium to become the first countries to implement the program, Danmarks Nationalbank said. (Tiber stands for Threat Intelligence-based Ethical Red Teaming.)
