Chicago Fed to speak at QA Financial forum USA

bo-an-1--1599825843

Bo An, lead examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago (pictured below), will be the opening keynote speaker at the QA Financial Digital forum USA on September 24th, the second day of the online conference.

His presentation topic will be “Challenges and new directions for software quality assurance: a perspective from the Chicago Fed” and will address the key themes that underpin the QA Financial Forum series.

What does good quality assurance look like? How do supervisors benchmark how the firms they supervise are managing IT risk? And as firms invest more in automation AI for software development, how will they test the out-puts of these new technologies?

These will be the questions we will be putting to Bo An in a Q&A session, as well as covering the detail how the Chicago Fed derives its guidance for banks in best practice and how it then produces scores for IT risk management.

In the session, Bo An will provide an overview of the principal supervisory rating system used to assess large financial institutions and how software quality assurance relates to that system. He will also cover cross-jurisdictional supervisory frameworks, notably BCBS 239, that have a bearing on software quality.

He will also discuss the guidance available to banks as to how they best structure their software quality assurance, and what common weaknesses in their processes they should look out for.
